German defense minister, Ursula von der Leyen, refused to wear a hijab during a recent visit to Saudi Arabia.
Von der Leyen failing to wear a hijab has sparked outrage among Saudi Arabia.
The news comes after Angela Merkel, Germanys Chancellor, called for a ban on the burqa and niqab throughout Germany.
Von der Leyen told reporters ‘The right to choose your own clothing is a right shared by men and women alike. It annoys me, when women are pushed into wearing the abaya.’

According to law, all women in Saudi Arabia must wear traditional full-body covering clothing, known as an abaya and muslim women also a headscarf or hijab.
